Bengan Janson's stage for two
The Swedish fiddler and accordion virtuoso Bengan Janson meets well-known Swedish artists in music and conversation.
Bengan Janson, the Swedish fiddler and accordion virtuoso, refuses to be placed in a box. His joy in playing and curiosity have led him into the worlds of jazz, ballads, and folk music, among others.
Over the years, he has collaborated with nearly all of Sweden’s top artists across a wide range of genres. "Meeting other musicians is my driving force," says Bengan Janson.

With Bellman as their guide, Mikael Samuelson and Bengan Janson follow this Movitz through a life marked by money troubles and romantic entanglements.
Mikael Samuelson is one of Sweden’s most renowned singers, celebrated for his versatility across nearly every imaginable genre: opera, musicals, songs, film and theatre. His major breakthrough came in the late 1980s when he played the title role in The Phantom of the Opera at Oscarsteatern. He is also widely acclaimed for his interpretations of Swedish song – not least the works of Carl Michael Bellman.
Accordion virtuoso Bengan Janson defies categorisation. His joy of playing and musical curiosity have led him into the realms of jazz, Swedish folk music and popular song. Over the years, he has collaborated with virtually the entire spectrum of Sweden’s musical elite. “My driving force is meeting other musicians,” says Bengan Janson.

These are heartfelt reflections filled with warmth and thoughtfulness – and surely with a few unexpected gems. Tomas von Brömssen brings along his clarinet, and perhaps a willow flute, as he joins Bengan Janson on a joyful journey through a lifelong career.
Beloved actor Tomas von Brömssen first rose to fame with the television series Albert & Herbert, and for decades he has starred in an endless array of acclaimed and cherished roles on stage, in film and on television. Music has always been a part of his life: he discovered the clarinet at an early age and began playing traditional jazz.

Over the years, he has collaborated with virtually the entire spectrum of Sweden’s musical elite. “My driving force is meeting other musicians,” says Bengan Janson.

These are songs of love, despair and longing. Through music and conversation, Bengan Janson and Anne Sofie von Otter guide us to the shadowy backstreets of Édith Piaf, the colourful marketplaces of Charles Trenet, the introspective world of Barbara, and Yves Montand’s strolls beneath the streetlights.
Mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter is widely regarded as one of the leading singers of her generation. She has recorded around 100 albums and enjoyed a top-tier international career spanning several decades. Her accolades include numerous prestigious awards, among them two Grammy Awards – one for the double album Douce France. She has also collaborated with artists beyond the classical sphere, such as Elvis Costello, Brad Mehldau and Rufus Wainwright.
