A New Look for Hötorget

Hötorget started to transform in the spring of 2026, becoming an even more attractive square and meeting place.

In connection with the centenary of Konserthuset Stockholm, Hötorget was also given a new look. The work is part of the City of Stockholm’s long-term development of the square, with the aim of creating a more inviting, greener and livelier meeting place.

The market stalls now have a new location closer to Haymarket. The ambition is also to give the market a more cohesive appearance. The new location has created larger open spaces in front of the steps of Konserthuset Stockholm, providing room for various events and pop-up activities. Seating has also been added to the square, along with more greenery in the form of planted urns.

The development is being carried out in close collaboration between the City of Stockholm, property owners, local businesses and market traders. A working group is reviewing the needs of Hötorget.

As Konserthuset Stockholm celebrates its centenary, it is therefore not only the building that has been given a new lease of life – Hötorget, too, is being transformed into a welcoming meeting place.
